ABOUT

ABOUT

Beautiful vacation home in the heart of Portugal's Alentejo. Cradled in a quiet valley of Santa Maria da Devesa, between the medieval castle towns of Castelo de Vide and Marvão. The house is a lovingly restored  pre-historic "round house", dating back to the Celtic occupation during the iron age (800-400 b.c.).  Amongst it's surrounds are ancient remnants of human activities reaching far back in time. Situated on a granite outcrop with unique views of the surrounding terrain, of a special part of the Serra de São Mamede national park. An area with abundant history, nature and tranquility. The park has its own microclimate and is a host for an array of unique flora and fauna. Many migrating birds harbour here! Beyond the rolling granite hills the eye is brought to the medieval castle of Marvão.

We restored the house using ecological materials to offer you all the comfort you need in a vacation home.  Whether you'd like to unplug in quiet nature, visit medieval towns and castles, enjoy the rich gastronomic culture of the Alentejo, here you can do that while staying in a 2000 year-old  home laden with history.
